Account Intelligence

Account Intelligence is the customer-level view at /customers/[id]. It pulls together everything MarginArc knows about a customer (deal history, facts learned over time, active plays, and the recovery curve) so you can plan the next move on the account, not just the next deal.

What's on the customer page

Top of page shows the customer profile: name, segment, industry, status, and any notes you've added. Below that, a knowledge panel rolls up the facts MarginArc has accumulated from your deals at this customer: deal count, average margin, OEMs you've sold them, competitive intel, install base notes. Click a fact to see where it came from.

Then the Margin recovery curve chart, then Active plays, then the Account Intelligence chat. Each is a separate section.

The recovery curve

The recovery curve is a chart of cumulative GP sacrifice vs. cumulative GP recouped over the life of all plays at this account. The X axis is months, the Y axis is dollars. Plays you ran show up as a sacrifice at the month they originated, and a recoupment at the month they paid off. The chart's headline shows the totals: "Invested $58K, Recovered $370K, 6.2x." If no plays have paid off yet, the chart shows the empty state: "Plays at this account will plot here once they convert."

This is the answer to "what's the multiplier on the margin we've left on the table at this customer." If the multiplier is high, the strategic moves are working. If it's low and the account has been active for years, plays at this customer probably aren't the right tool.

Active plays

The Active plays section lists every play instance currently in flight at the customer, plus a short history of plays that have paid off or been abandoned. Each card shows the play type, the competitor it's targeting (if any), the rationale, the GP sacrificed, the GP recouped so far, the expected payoff target, and how many days the play has been running. Stale plays (past their payoff target with no recoupment) are flagged in amber.

If there are more than five plays in total, a "See all" link opens a drawer with the full list and filter chips so you can scope by status (Active, Paid off, Abandoned, Stale).

Plays in the chat

The Account Intelligence chat at the bottom of the page knows about your plays. The suggested-question chips include things like:

  • "What's the next move on this play?"
  • "Which stale plays can I still recover?"
  • "What plays are active here?"

The chat agent's context includes a structured snapshot of every active play and the recent paid-off history, so it can reason about strategic moves in conversation rather than just per-deal scoring.

Multi-deal play arcs

A play is rarely one deal. The originating deal is where you took the sacrifice. Member deals (subsequent deals at the same customer that touch the same play context) get tagged into the play. The payoff deal is the one that closes the play. MarginArc auto-detects candidates for member and payoff roles when you upload follow-on deals: see the MarginArc Plays auto-match section for how that surfaces.

You can also manually tag a deal into an active play from the deal's results page if MarginArc didn't catch it automatically.

Why this exists

Reps make per-deal decisions even though their margin actually compounds over multi-deal arcs at each customer. A 5% deal isn't a 5% deal if it's the entry fee on an incumbency renewal that comes back at 28%. Account Intelligence is the surface that makes the multi-deal view legible: which plays are active, what they cost, what they've returned, what the next move is.
